THAT BUT SMALLER CONCEPT

Designed a concept series for Instagram content for the miniature model artist behind “That But Smaller”. Art directed a small photo shoot for the artist’s miniature models. Wanted to incorporate the artist’s Latin background through the use of color, textiles, and props. The artist wanted the props to showcase the size of the model that way the viewer would know how small the models are in reality.

MOOD BOARDS

Created three separate concepts for the artist to choose from.

“Latin Infusion” - The artist is originally from Guatemala and very proud of his heritage. Idea was to take inspiration from Latin American architecture and use a bright, solid color backdrop. Then use a “Latin staple” next to the model as a scale indicator (i.e. food products, textiles, etc.).

“Tools as Props” - The artist uses a variety of tools to work on his models. To give the images a playful vibe, would style his tools in a whimsical scene in the background while his models would sit in the foreground. The tools would then also serve as scale indicators.

“Urban Setting” - Most of the models the artist creates give an essence of the grime and grit in everyday city life. Sought to bring that into the image by using the artist’s own neighborhood as a backdrop (North Hollywood). Idea would be to do tight shots of model with background out of focus but still keep elements the model sits on clear.
